CORNISH
Pirates centre Shaun James is looking to the future after deciding to step down
from playing full-time rugby.
The Welshman, who joined the club from
Celtic League side Cardiff Blues at the start of last season, said he was heading
back to Wales to pursue other options.
The livewire centre featured in
15 games for the Pirates last term, scoring three tries. However, his season was
cut short back in March because of a wrist injury, which later required surgery.
The 26-year-old said: "I've really enjoyed my time with the Pirates. The
only real downside were the injuries I picked up. They are a great club and I
think they will do really well next year."
Although James has decided to
call time on playing full-time rugby, he admitted that it was likely that he would
continue playing the sport in some capacity in the future.
Meanwhile, the
Pirates have confirmed they will tackle Ebbw Vale and Launceston in a triangular
tournament at the Mennaye Field on Saturday, August 12, before entertaining the
Newport-Gwent Dragons at Camborne's Recreation Ground a week later.
That
game will provide an early return to the county for former Pirates Joe Bearman
and Matt Jess, who both recently joined the Welsh outfit.
