James
Moore admits he cannot wait to get stuck into the action with the Cornish Pirates
next season.
Moore, who is National League One’s leading points-scorer
this year, will head for the Duchy in the summer to join-up with Jim McKay and
his squad as they look to build on their best-ever finish in the National Leagues.
Saturday’s 28-21 victory over Moore’s current club Coventry, has
ensured the Pirates of third spot in the table, behind champions Harlequins and
second-placed Bedford.
And having tackled his new team-mates at first
hand at the weekend, Moore admits he is looking forward to playing a big part
for the Pirates.
“They played really well,” said Moore, who was named
Coventry’s Clubman of the Year at the weekend. “I can’t wait to play in the team.
They play some exciting rugby, especially out in the backs which is what I’ll
be looking forward to.”
Having played most of the season on the wing
for the Midlanders, Moore’s versatility – he can play at scrum-half, fly-half
or full-back as well – could be a major asset to McKay and the Pirates.
He added: “My natural position is scrum-half. I’d probably prefer nine or
ten, but I’ll slot in anywhere. I play 15 and wing as wekll, so as long as I’m
playing I’ll be happy.”
Already Moore has headed west to check out
life in the Duchy and he admits he was suitably impressed. “I went down the other
weekend to have a look around and I’ve found a nice place at Goldsithney. There’s
some really nice places down there, so I can’t wait to get down there.”
