Rowe of Pentire Farm provides the first asparagus of the year 11/07/04
Mark
Rowe of Pentire Farm in Helston provided the first British asparagus of the year
to supermarket giants Marks & Spencer and Tesco.
Mark
was thrilled to win the 'race', especially as the vegetable is traditionally grown
in the Midlands.
On Tuesday
Mark was at the Marks & Spencer store in Truro to help drive local asparagus
sales, as part of an in store promotion organised in conjunction with Flamingo
UK .
The event - involving
old fashioned barrows and the barbecuing of samples - drew considerable interest
from the public who thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to taste the samples on
offer.
Present at the promotion
- were Ian Michell & Andy Jones from Flamingo UK, and Cornish Pirates players
Gareth Tedstone and Lewis Webb.
Mark Rowe - a proud
Cornishman - is a keen follower of the Cornish Pirates, whilst Club President
Dicky Evans is the CEO of Flamingo Holdings
