Pirates
Support 'Bone & Joint' Health Awareness Week
Representatives
from the Cornish Pirates attended the Knowledge Spa at the Royal Cornwall Hospital,
Truro, at the end of April.
Team Manager Adrian Edwards
and players Sam Heard and Rhodri Wells were present to help launch the Building
Better Bones and Joints interactive educational exhibition, this an activity of
the Bone and Joint Health Awareness Week organised by the Department of Rheumatology.
Professor
Anthony Woolf was the consultant responsible for the exhibition, it hoped that
a series of interactive displays would help educate students of health studies
in Cornwall about bone and joint health diseases, how to stay healthy, and what
modern medicine can achieve.
The exhibition put an emphasis
on what can be done to prevent musculoskeletal problems from youth onwards and
the importance of physical activity, avoiding sports and work-related injuries
and the need for good nutrition - and included live cookery demonstrations and
tastings!
