Match Report - 19/03/07

Bath Academy 49 Cornish Pirates Academy 13

Played at the Recreation Ground, Bath, the final score in this Academy/Development fixture flattered the strong home side which included a number of players with first team experience.

Indeed, the score was only 20-13 as play entered the last quarter, a flurry of late tries perhaps providing a misleading scoreline in the overall context of the game.

It was 15-6 at half-time, fly-half Mike Provis kicking a penalty and a drop goal for the Cornish team.

In the second half hooker Darren Dawidiuk got the touchdown for a try following a catch and drive. Provis added the extras.

Outstanding for the Pirates was scrum-half Rhodri Wells, whilst Dawidiuk also had a very good game in a pack that competed well throughout.
