'winners are Twickers bound Having provided players to coach at various
schools within Penwith in recent months, the Cornish Pirates, with the support
of EDF Energy and Premier Rugby Limited, held a 'Tag' Rugby Festival at the Mennaye
Field on Wednesday. The schools taking part in a 'round
robin' set of matches were Alverton, Newlyn, Pensans and St. Mary's C of E, the
boys and girls representing St. Mary's emerging as the overall winners from an
enjoyable and successful afternoon's competition.  | | St

all participants were impressive, a credit both to the pupils for learning and
to the coaches who have helped develop them. Cornish Pirates players who have
provided coaching and who were present on the day included Sam Betty, Scott Hobson,
Owen Hambly, Adam Nicholls, Mike Rawlings, Gareth Tedstone, and Lewis Webb. All
matches were refereed by Chris 'Jan' Rendall, who was thanked for his efforts,
with Adrian Edwards, Team Manager for the Cornish Pirates, and player Adam Nicholls,
presenting certificates to all the youngsters who took part. As
an extra reward for winning, the St. Mary's team will now join the Cornish Pirates
at Twickenham on Sunday 15th. April, and play on the hallowed turf along with
other tag teams representing Premiership sides It also means,
of course, that three Cornish rugby teams can now look forward to what should
be an amazing experience, a day not to forget.
