Cornish Pirates

We have been advised that the Bath Rugby Sevens tournament scheduled to take place on the 29 – 30th. July, has unfortunately been cancelled.

This is a disappointment to Bath Rugby and the ‘Bath Sports Festival 2006’ organisers, the reason being that certain Health & Safety issues could not be met in time, for which we sympathise.

Looking to the future, Sian Dawson, the Bath Sports Festival Director, advises the tournament will be submitted early in September to give the Council one year to consider plans for the competition which will then hopefully be run in Bath alongside the British Cycling Grand Prix.

It was expected that a good number of Pirates supporters would have travelled to Bath, their likely focus now directed to the Henley Sevens which take place a week later on Sunday 6th. August, when the Cornish side will be looking to defend the title they won last year by beating Northampton Saints 31-17 in the final.
