| Pirates Rattle Their Buckets | |||||||
Children in Need 18th November 2006 BBC Radio Cornwall do a marvellous job to support Cornish sport, so when Matt Sandoz (Sports Producer) put out a call for Cornish Rugby Stars to help their 'Children in Need' appeal, the Cornish rugby fraternity did not let him down.
Present at the BBC's book and plant sale at Lemon Quay on Friday afternoon, were Pirates players Adryan Winnan, Sam Heard and Duncan Roke along with Cornish All Blacks' Josh Lord, Tom Parker, Ryan Westren & Redruth's PJ Gidlow and Richard Carroll. In a spirit of friendly rivalry, the players from each team competed to see who could fill the collection buckets with the most cash for 'Children In Need'.
Captain Benbow - the popular Pirates' mascot - was also ashore during the afternoon, catching attention on the streets of the city whilst distributing free car stickers to afternoon shoppers.
The Pirates - whose regular support for charities throughout the Duchy is well known - also donated a special fund raising prize. The lucky winner will sit alongside Radio Cornwall presenters at the Cornish Pirates v Waterloo game on the 3rd. December, whilst four tickets will be provided for family or friends.
