| Scott Hobson, one of Cornwall's best young prospects, has been
chosen in the England U19s squad for their match to be played against Italy U19s
at Sunbury on Friday afternoon (5th. January). A lock forward who has
previously played for Hayle and Redruth, Scott has already been capped for England
at the level, besides having also represented British Colleges. The match
against Italy will be England's first this season, it one of three internationals
to be played by coach Nigel Redman's side in preparation for the IRB's U19s World
Championship to be played in Belfast in April. Update Scott
was used as a second half replacement as England Under-19s defeated their Italian
counterparts 18-11 at Sunbury on Friday. Hobson was one of three Westcountry-based
players named in the England squad, which also included Exeter Chiefs pair Richard
Bolt and Tom Bedford. However, it was skipper Hugo Ellis that led the home
side to victory. The Wasps number eight scored a superb individual effort in the
first-half and fielded a cross-kick for a simple second 10 minutes from time. Replacement
fly-half Alex Goode (Saracens) added a conversion and penalty, while Adam Greendale
(Leeds Tykes) kicked a penalty as England worked hard against a physical Italian
side who were prepared to run from deep. The visitors scored one try through
wing Andrea Bacchetti with Saracens scrum-half David Wilson adding two penalties. The
match was England U19s first this season & one of three internationals to
be played by coach Nigel Redman's side in preparation for the IRB's U19s World
