V Pertemps Bees
Centre Steve Winn will make his first league appearance of the season, whilst one other change in the backs sees James Moore given an opportunity to impress in the number nine shirt. Another making his first league start is Kiwi hooker Nathan Kemp who will play in the front-row alongside loose-head prop Peter Cook and recalled tight-head Sam Heard. With Tim Cowley still sidelined with injury, the team will once again be skippered by fly-half Gareth Steenson. Although winning the match, the Cornish Pirates are fully aware that they under-performed at the Butts Park Arena last weekend, and will be desperately keen to move forward and perform to their obvious potential, especially at home. Few would argue that they would appear to have every chance to do well against a Pertemps Bees side which has lost its opening three matches and lies without a point at the foot of the National 1 table, but sport at this level is not that predictable. The Pirates are aware they cannot take the Midlanders lightly, there simply too many good players in the visiting squad to dismiss a challenge that they can still realistically pose. Experienced back-rower Russell Earnshaw, who has joined Pertemps Bees from Doncaster as player-coach, is a quality performer who demands respect, and there is a quick return to Cornwall for Mike Hook, the Redruth fly-half last season, brother of Welsh international James Cornish
