Despite having a number of players unavailable because of Rugby World Cup commitments, the Tigers still have a wealth of ability in their squad who'll be looking to impress ahead of this season's's league campaign. Up front they are likely to start the game against the Cornish Pirates with a formidable line-up composing international props Alex Moreno (Argentina/Italy) and Julian White (England), and hooker Benjamin Kayser (France A). Lock Louis Deacon is expected to captain the team, whilst in the outsides Tom Varndell, Ollie Smith, Andy Goode and Paul Burke will all surely show their class.
Cornish Pirates head coach Jim McKay says his players are really looking forward to the challenge to be posed, adding "It's going to be our first blow out of the season, so I'm expecting a few bits of rustiness in the squad. That said, I'm also looking for us to be competitive against what should be a very strong Leicester side - our opponents regarded as being the Manchester United of the rugby world." The respective team line-ups will be confirmed shortly before the 4pm kick-off, with the match to be refereed by Tony Spreadbury. Tickets for the game can be purchased on the day from the ground ticket office which is sited between the clubhouse and the main ground. The ticket office will be open at 2p.m. Admission £5 for the terraces, including seating in the new temporary stand at no extra charge on a first come first served basis, and £10 for the main grandstand.
