| Cornish Pirates V Nottingham
Sunday October 28th Kick Off 2:00pm For
the Cornish Pirates first 2pm kick-off of the season, they welcome the Merry Men
from Nottingham, the 'Green & Whites', to the Recreation Ground, Camborne,
on Sunday.
It's a match between the fourth and fifth placed teams
in National Division One, with surely another closely fought contest all but guaranteed. Nottingham
have named a strong line-up, which includes former 'Pirate' Tom Barlow at fly-half,
their leading points scorer both last season and to date in this. At inside centre
is Alex Dodge, son of former England captain Paul Dodge, whilst full-back Rohaan
Nirmalendran, who topped their try-scoring list in 2006-07, is one to keep an
eye on. Kiwi blind-side flanker Craig Hammond skippers their
side, part of a formidable back-row which includes former Leicester 'Tiger' Dan
Montagu at No. 8, and ex 'Harlequin' Luke Sherriff, the second top try-scorer
in the league this term, on the open-side. As for the Cornish
Pirates, the side shows just one change in the starting line-up from the team
that narrowly beat Bedford Blues in a mightily tough encounter played at Camborne
last Sunday. Rhodri McAtee comes in on the wing for an injured Brian Tuohy, with
a fit again Ali Koko taking Rhodri's place on the bench. Tony
Spreadbury, who refereed the Pirates pre-season friendly against Leicester Tigers,
before taking charge of the opening game in the Rugby World Cup, makes a quick
and welcome return to officiate once more at at the 'Rec'. |
