This Saturday the Cornish Pirates will extend a sporting welcome to mighty Northampton Saints, for a third meeting between the two clubs this season.

The Saints have narrowly emerged victorious from both league games, but this will be cup action, the holders Pirates determined not to give up the EDF Energy National Trophy they won at Twickenham last April. Be assured, this is a game that is guaranteed to have that extra bit of 'edge'.

All would agree that the Pirates have been handed a tough fourth round tie, the Saints bringing with them a formidable looking squad into Cornwall, including former 'All Blacks' Bruce Reihana,Carlos Spencer and Mark Robinson.

Wing Chris Ashton, named this week along with hooker Dylan Hartley in the England Saxons squad, and who is National One's leading try-scorer with 20, is also listed along with former Scotland international and British Lions prop Tom Smith. Although missing fly-half Barry Everitt because of injury, the Saints selection is still a strong one, an indicator that they are keen to present their loyal fans with a trip to 'Twickers' in April.

The Pirates team, who will similarly wish to deliver the goods for their own faithful followers, shows three changes in personnel from that which ran out and faced Pertemps Bees at Sharmans Cross Road, Solihull, last weekend.

Brian Tuohy returns to the wing in place of Vunga Lilo who takes over from Paul Devlin in the centre, and at fly-half Gareth Steenson is selected ahead of Ollie Thomas. In the pack, Stan McKeen, who featured as a replacement against the Bees, is selected on the blind-side flank, with skipper Tim Cowley reverting to the No. 8 position in place of Matt Evans.

Tickets for the match have inevitably sold well, but will be available on the gate, it is recommended to arrive early.
