Although welcoming a side to Camborne on Sunday (ko3pm) that is perilously close to the relegation zone, all can be assured that the challenge from Sedgley Park will not be taken lightly.

Such teams at this stage of the season can prove very dangerous, as they fight it out for survival, and although Pertemps Bees and the Cornish All Blacks appear a duo doomed for the drop, it is not yet certain, with fourteenth placed Sedgley Park in no position to relax.

The 'Tigers' have been labelled the survivors in National Division One, having finished tenth, thirteenth and thirteenth again in their three completed seasons playing at the level, and it should also be remembered that the Pirates only won 20-13 when playing them at Park Lane, Whitefield, Manchester, back in November.

Indeed, in that game the final outcome was only decided when a second penalty kicked by Gareth Steenson, who also crossed a try and notched two conversions in the match, proved the last score of the game. They were up for the scrap then, and they will surely be up for one again on Sunday.

When the two teams last met in Cornwall back in February, 2007, the Pirates won 39-13, there a 5-1 try-count in our favour, which would happily be accepted on Sunday.

Besides being awarded a penalty try (nowadays sponsored by the Newlyn Steak Club!), our other tries in that match were scored by Duncan Bell, Iva Motusaga, Tim Cowley and Grant Anderson.

Fly-half Alberto Di Bernardo landed three conversions and two penalties, and there was a conversion also for replacement Jimmy Moore. For the visitors flanker Ledua Jope scored a try, converted by experienced fly-half Phil Jones, who also slotted two penalty goals.

Phil Jones is again Sedgley Park's top points scorer this season, with them also dangerous out wide in the shape of wingers Jan Van DeVenter and Chris Briers. Player/coach/captain Tim Fourie, a talismanic performer for a good number of seasons, and now aged 40, will boss an able pack of forwards.

The Pirates are forced to make a number of changes throughout their team, there certain players injured or needing rest. It is still, nonetheless, a strong looking outfit, where in the outsides wing Vunga Lilo, centre Brian Tuohy and fly-half Ollie Thomas start.

With Tim Cowley taking a spot on the bench, Chris Cracknell will lead the team, playing alongside fellow flanker Sam Betty and No. 8 Matt Evans in the back-row.

Tight-head prop Sam Heard, who has been out injured for several weeks, will be delighted to get his chance of a run out.
