Pirates Recognised As One Of Cornwall's Fastest Growing Organisations

Saturday August 18th 2007

The Cornish Pirates have been recognised by Cornwall Enterprise as one of Cornwall's fastest growing organisations, and have been rewarded for their work in the local community and as a positive force for Cornwall.

Pictured is Cornwall Enterprise Managing Director John Berry presenting the Cornwall Blaze marque to Cornish Pirates new winger Ali Koko in front of the large pre-season crowd at the Cornish Pirates versus Newport Gwent Dragons fixture.

Also pictured is Julia Goldsworthy, MP for Falmouth and Camborne, who was a guest at the match, plus players Steve Winn and Rhodri McAtee.

Cornish Pirates Chief Executive Rod Coward said
"It is very encouraging that the work we are doing has been recognised by the Cornwall Enterprise. We are aiming to become a club that represents everything that is good about the Duchy and should we, as planned, reach our target of Premiership rugby, we will be able to do so on a much wider stage."

Cornwall Blaze Marque

The blaze marque reflects a contemporary region with a deep-rooted culture of innovation, a thriving entrepreneurial spirit and a strong commitment to securing a successful future for its people.

A key influence in its design is the flag of St Piran, the patron saint of tin miners (white tin was extracted from the black ore as part of the tin smelting process).
