Cornish Pirates

Crowd Behaviour

Rod Coward - CEO
9th October 2007

Three home games into the season and the Cornish Pirates are on course to achieve their target of average home attendance figures of 3500 per game.

The Club is grateful to its supporters old and new and can not overstate its appreciation for the growing numbers who attend games at The Rec.

It has been brought to our attention that there is however a very small number who are using obscene language, abusing match officials and generally spoiling the family atmosphere, which the Club are seeking to encourage and develop.

I would ask all true supporters who witness this unwelcome behaviour to seek out one of the Stewards at the ground and to identify the offender to him or her.

I feel if this small element can be identified, isolated and educated as to what is expected or, in the worst scenario, excluded from the ground then the reputation of our supporters as the best in the League will remain untarnished.

It will benefit no one if we are to see the appalling crowd behaviour often associated with other sports start to establish itself at The Rec
