and Cornish rugby followers in general, will be delighted to hear that loyal supporter
and Cadgwith singer David Muirhead has been honoured in the Queen's Birthday Honours
list for his voluntary service to the Cornish fishing industry. Dave
is a consultant with Borlase & Company Solicitors Helston, and a former Falmouth,
Helston, London Cornish and Cornwall player He has worked
tirelessly as Secretary of the SW Handline Fishermen's Association, Chairman of
the Cornwall Sea Fisheries Committee, Chairman of Cadgwith & Helford District
Fishermen's Society, has served on and off in crews of the Falmouth and Lizard
Lifeboats for almost 40 years, and has also appeared on television with Rick Stein! Commenting
on his award, David was a modest as ever, saying: "I was quite shocked
and feel very humble because there are a lot of excellent people in the Cornish
fishing industry and unsung heroes." |
