| Young 'Saints' Fan Wins Tim's Trophy Winning Shirt | |||
Saturday August 18th 2007 During the close season the Cornish Pirates & the 'Press Gang' have been raising money through a raffle to benefit the 'Little Yellow Digger Appeal'. The appeal was set up to help former Pirates captain Gavin Cattle's godson - six-year-old Rhys Mott - who has been undergoing long term chemotherapy for a brain tumour and cannot have remedial surgery until he is much older. Two prizes were on offer: the trophy winning shirt worn by Tim Cowley at Twickenham when the Pirates won the EDF Energy National Trophy (signed by all the squad), plus Stan McKeen's signed Canada World Cup qualifying shirt. Julia Goldsworthy, Lib-Dem MP for Falmouth and Camborne, made the draw at half-time of Saturday's game with Newport Gwent Dragons. Matt Lilly from Penzance won Stan's shirt & has already received his prize from Kat Vardy the club's Marketing and Events Co-ordinator. Tim's shirt was won by a young Northampton Saints supporter: 9yr old Jamel Hamilton who bought his winning ticket at the 'Press Gang' barbeque at the Westholme Clubhouse in July. Jamel will have to wait until September to collect his prize when he travels to Cornwall to watch the 'Saints' in action against the Cornish Pirates on Sunday 9th.
Jamie is becoming a somewhat familiar face at the Pirates having also been pictured at the schools tag festival at the Mennaye in July & appearing in the Slide Show with the World Cup Links: | |||
