Five Sign On Again

Having announced just last week that 'Pirate' stars Rhodri McAtee and Jimmy Moore have re-signed for the club, the Cornish Pirates are delighted to add five more impressive names to that list, as the building blocks for next season are already being put in place.

The latest five players are Canadian international scrum-half Ed Fairhurst, who impressed virtually from the first time he touched the ball when making his debut against Exeter Chiefs last October, and a forwards quartet comprising hookers Rob Elloway and Darren Dawidiuk, and South Africans Bruce Cumming and Matt Evans.

It is expected that further names will be confirmed in the coming weeks, a mark of intent and developing team spirit, that many of the squad look likely to remain, which bodes well for the future

Mr. Thomas commented:

"Energy Access is delighted to sponsor the Cornish Pirates and hopefully help contribute towards their quest to bring Premiership rugby to Cornwall.

The professional outlook of the team and their back-room staff is something we are proud to be associated with and are very happy to again have the Energy Access logo on next season's shirts and the BBS logo on the shorts. We, like so many others, are also extremely excited about the new stadium in the pipeline and look forward to it being given the green light."

Energy Access is a business that has grown dramatically since the company was initiated 18 months ago. It started from a bedroom and is now about to occupy 250m2 of brand new office space at Trevissome Parc, near Chiverton Cross.

The demand for Energy Consultations has always been high, but with the new CODE for Sustainable Homes and the requirement for Energy Performance Certificates to Commercial buildings coming in to force in April, a further increase in workload is expected.

This coupled with the rapidly expanding client base who use the BBS arm of the company to submit Building Regulations applications as an alternative to the Local Authority, will undoubtedly result in the need to employ more members of staff to join an experienced, qualified and rapidly expanding team.

Other Squad News

Although delighted to announce the latest signings, with more also in the pipeline, there will always be those who will inevitably move elsewhere, as confirmed this week with the news that fly-half Gareth Steenson and back-rower Chris Cracknell have signed for Exeter Chiefs.

Both players will remain with the Cornish Pirates until the end of this season and are thanked for the contributions that they have made.
