As
the Cornish Pirates continue to build for next season, the announcement of the
latest squad additions make it clear that the team will be one that has solidly
impressive foundations.
Following the news released
on Monday that 27 years old South African back-rower Jannie Bornman will be joining
the Cornish Pirates from near rivals Plymouth Albion, it has now been announced
that another Albion player is to board the Pirates ship in the shape of lock Ben
Gulliver.
An abrasive contributor on the field, Ben played
in the same team at Coventry as Jimmy Moore, before moving from the Butts to the
Brickfields in 2006. It was a difficult decision to make at the time, as he hails
from a rugby family in Coventry, and was popular with supporters.
Unlucky
to have broken a leg in his first season playing in the west country, Ben has
consistently impressed on his return to fitness, and is a player who clearly has
much to offer. A very fine line-out forward who is experienced in playing at a
consistently high level in National One, he is another with good leadership skills.
