Hewitt Signs 2 Year Contract Following the resignation
a few weeks back of Jim McKay, it has now been officially confirmed that Mark
Hewitt has signed a two-year contract to be Coach of the Cornish Pirates. A
former Royal Marine, 48 years old Mark was appointed Forwards Coach in June, 2006,
arriving from Premiership outfit Gloucester where he was the club's RFU Academy
Manager. After signing his new contract, the former Plymouth
Albion, Devon and Combined Services player commented: "These are extremely
exciting times in a passionate rugby area, the role providing me with a continuing
opportunity to ambitiously strive and work for the benefit of the Cornish Pirates,
who are quite clearly going in the right direction both on and off the field." | | |
The
club's CEO, Rod Coward, added: "We are delighted that Mark Hewitt has
committed himself to the Cornish Pirates for the next two years. This
is clear evidence of our intentions and brings stability to the club and to the
squad. The spontaneous applause at the EGM on Monday, which greeted
my announcement that Mark is to remain as our Coach, shows how highly he is regarded
by our supporters. I am now discussing with Mark who should be our backs coach." |
