| Hairy Times for Cornish Pirates! | | | The
Cornish Pirates players had a shave this morning. Nothing outstanding about that
statement you would think, but this is the last time a razor will touch any players'
top lip until December 1st. | | That
is because the Cornish Pirates players have signed up for 'Movember' and will
be growing moustaches for the entire month of November in order to raise awareness
and money for the Children's Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal. The
Precious Lives Appeal is the Cornish Pirates players chosen charity for this season
and they are trying to help raise the £5million needed for a new children's
hospice in Cornwall. Every player will be taking part,
or giving a £50 donation and Rhodri McAtee, who was photographed at the
launch of Movember said: "The boys can't wait to get started. We went
to see some of the children involved in the summer and it really made us want
to help as much as we can. I think we will look
cool with big handlebar moustaches! Although I'm not sure I'll be able to and
if we can help raise awareness and some money, then even better." | Community
Fundraiser for C.H.S.W. Mary Murfin said: "We thank the Cornish Pirates
once again for their continued support of the Children's Hospice South West Precious
Lives Appeal. It means so much to us to have such a high profile
local sporting team working hard to support the appeal and the families that use
the service in the South West. They are a great bunch of lads and
are becoming more and more inventive in the way that they support us! We look
forward to seeing the results of this particular effort!" In
addition to growing moustaches, the players who are injured will be collecting
money from supporters at the Cornish Pirates vs. Rotherham match on Sunday 18th
November
