Brian Tuohy

Cornish Pirates winger Brian Tuohy, who has previously played for Munster and Ireland 7s, has been called into the Ireland 'A' team squad for this summer's 2008 Barclays Churchill Cup tournament to be held in the USA and Canada.

The Irish side will compete in Pool 'B' of the competition, with their opening game against the USA at the Richardson Stadium, Kingston, Ontario, on 11th June.

Three days later, at Fletcher Fields, Toronto, cup holders England Saxons will be their opponents, and on 21st June the finals day will take place at Toyota Park, Chicago.

The close season has been one without rest for Brian, as in May he impressed for the Ireland 7s team in tournaments held in Europe.

Runners-up in Denmark, Ireland were winners in Poland, these results keeping them firmly on course to qualify for the 2009 Rugby World Cup 7s to be held in Dubai.

Ed Fairhurst

Due to compete in Pool 'A' is another 'Pirate' in the shape of gifted scrum-half Ed Fairhurst. First capped for Canada in 2001.

The experienced 29 year old, who has amassed 41 caps for his country, will be looking to add to his tally in pool games against Scotland 'A' and Argentina 'A'.

The Churchill Cup, named after former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, is a tournament that has grown in success since first launched in Vancouver in 2003.

Cornish Pirates CEO, Rod Coward, commented: "To represent your country, at whatever level, is an outstanding personal achievement and we are delighted for Brian and Ed. This is a notable reflection on the club and spreads the name of the Cornish Pirates even further throughout the world of rugby."
