The Pirates first saw Tim in 2003-04 when he played for struggling Manchester a side relegated at the end of that season.

The Mancunians went down, but Tim stayed up, the Pirates delighted to announce in May, 2004, that he had signed for us

Described at time as a "hard working back-row specialist", this true warrior of the game would have been wasted a level below, and what an excellent capture he has proved to be

Occasionally troubled with injuries, which is no surprise for such a committed performer, his presence adds much to our game both in attack and defence.

Other sports played by Tim have ranged from rugby league to boxing and croquet (really - no!) to squash, whilst hobbies include travelling and socialising.

Not many people know this, but Tim qualified as a carpenter, which is perhaps not so surprising as he was born in Tokoroa, Waikato, which is the hub of New Zealand's massive forestry, timber, pulp and paper industries. When he retires he would like to be a property developer.

A single man, Tim still holds family dear to him. He has a brother and sister who are both in New Zealand, and a cousin Ezra Taylor plays for the 'Highlanders'.

A fairly immediate rugby ambition for Tim, our 'Player of the Year 2007' and selected in the 'Rugby Times' National One Dream XV, is to try and take the Pirates to the highest level, him also wishing to "walk when I retire". Well, from the way he has often played for us, it should be a clear case of being able to walk tall, hopefully, and deservedly so.

His motto is "don't push it", which is great coming from someone who puts his body on the line and actually pushes himself to the limit whenever he plays!
