A group of Year 8 & 9 pupils from Penair School in Truro, took part in rugby-related events during their summer activities week. The aim, in part, was to replicate the life of a professional rugby player.

The range of activities and subjects covered have included nutrition, team building, stamina, core stability and skills coaching.

On Tuesday the students spent a day watching the Cornish Pirates train on the sand dunes at Gwithian, followed by a training session at the Mennaye Field given by Cornish Pirates forwards coach Mark Hewitt.

Mark Withecombe of Penair School said "We are extremely grateful to Mark and the Cornish Pirates for reacting so positively to help our young rugby players, all of whom will have benefited from the experience."
