County Primary School Pupils at Porthleven County Primary School near Helston are presently taking part in the EDF Energy National Schools Rugby Programme, which is one of the most comprehensive in world rugby and involves boys and girls, aged nine and ten, across England. Matt Evans and Adrian Edwards - who has coached the enthusiastic youngsters - visited the school on Tuesday with the EDF Energy National Trophy won by the Pirates at Twickenham in April. Matt spoke to children at the school about the 'journey to the final' and also the injuries he unfortunately suffered at the end of the season.
Everyone at the school appreciated Adrian and Matt's visit, wishing Matt their best wishes for a speedy recovery. Cornwall has been one of the first parts of the country to benefit since the programme began in January, when EDF Energy became Premier Rugby's Community Partner and programme sponsor, and the Cornish Pirates have worked with various schools since. The latest wave of schools taking part in the rugby programme will take part in a 'Tag' rugby festival at the Mennaye Field, Penzance, on Wednesday 20th. June. |
