Truro Schools Compete In Cornish Pirates 'Speedy Hire' Tag Festival

Following the launch of the Speedy Hire Primary Link Rugby Programme last season, the Cornish Pirates have provided coaching to a number of Primary Schools in the Truro area, culminating in a Tag Rugby Festival being held this past week at Truro College.

The Schools in the area who have benefited from the Programme are Bosvigo, Devoran, Kea, St. Mary's, Threemilestone, Tregolls and Treyew, who were joined by Treloweth School from Illogan at the Festival.

Speedy Hire's Regional Director, Trevor Goodman, was present to watch the teams in action, and the Cornish Pirates were represented by players Peter Cook, Darren Dawidiuk, Paul Andrew, and community coach Mike Crump. RFU Coach Phil Morris also attended on the day.

A thoroughly entertaining day's tag rugby was enjoyed by all who participated, with Kea School emerging the winners from a close final played against Devoran.

Mr. Goodman commented:
"The standard of play was certainly impressive, it clearly shows the youngsters have derived benefit from the oaching, and the involvement will help their overall development."
