Pirates In Judgement

4th December 2008

A number of players from the Cornish Pirates have helped judge Christmas decorations displayed in the atmospheric and popular Causewayhead shopping thoroughfare.

Joining Alan Paver, Brian Tuohy, Dan Seal, Matt Evans and Sam Betty on Thursday afternoon were Penwith District Councillor Jan Ruhrmund and police representative PC J. Lewis, who had the difficult task of judging the excellent displays which were made and submitted by local infants schools.

Judging completed, 1st place went to Trythall School in Causewayhead Furniture, 2nd place went to Trelya in Sweeney Todd's hairdressing salon, and 3rd place went to St. Levan School in Home Hardware.

The Causewayhead Traders Association were delighted and grateful that representatives from the Pirates made the effort to help with the judging. Committee member Julia Hopson, from 'Knit-Wits' commented:
"We really appreciated the players giving of their time. Judging is not an easy task as all the displays are very different, but the players took it very seriously and also made it fun for everyone involved - thank you to them all."

Jan Ruhrmund was also heard to say that judging with the Cornish Pirates was the highlight of her five years as a Councillor!

The presentation of prizes to the winners will now take place in Causewayhead on Thursday 11th December at 6pm.
