Pirates Free Coaching For Girls - Latest News

With more girls nowadays watching the game of rugby football, many now would like to take up the game.

The Cornish Pirates offer free coaching for the those in the U18s, U16s, U15s, and U12s age groups.

Funding has been provided by the Cornwall Sports Partnership, and the coaching takes place each Wednesday from 4.15 - 5.30pm at Mounts Bay School, Penzance.

It is interesting to note that Plymouth Albion's Georgina Rozario, the girlfriend of Cornish Pirates player Ben Gulliver, is the only woman west of Bristol who is presently in the England Women's Elite Squad. A scrum-half, the Bath born player has won eight England caps since making her debut against the USA in 2007.

The girls attending the Cornish Pirates coaching sessions are not only learning new skills, but are also improving their fitness and making new friends, and there is every hope that there might just be another westcountry international like Georgina amongst them.

Also present at a recent coaching session was England U20s prop forward Sasha Acheson and Cornish Pirates player Tom Luke, who were both impressed with the level of ability on display.
