It
is expected that the Pirates selection for their first ever Cornwall 'Super Cup'
game will list a gifted group of players most of whom will have missed out on
selection for the previous day's game against Exeter Chiefs. For
them it will be a chance not only to impress but to get some important match action,
whilst a small number of able performers from the Pirates 'Amateurs', plus perhaps
a couple of gifted Colts, could also feature. The
Cornish All Blacks, who competed in last season's competition along with Redruth
and winners Mounts Bay, have already named their side: an 'Academy' team of very
able performers. Former 'Pirates' Lewis Webb and Mike Provis
form a promising young half-back combination, whilst wingers Chris Morris and
Jon Marlin have pace aplenty. The Semmens brothers, Darren
and Jamie, who in the close season moved from the west to the east of the county,
will also be looking impress on a ground where they have previously starred in
Mounts Bay's colours Cornish Pirates:

The Cornwall RFU Skinner's
Brewery Super Cup Competition, is organised by the CRFU Competitions Standing
Committee. It is open to Cornish clubs competing in National League
Three (South) and above Mounts Bay are the present holders having beaten
the Cornish All Blacks 45-17 in the first final played at the Mennaye Field last
Easter Monday. Ground admission is £5 only (accompanied children under
16 free), with £2 upgrade charge for seats in the stand (first come first
served). Bars open from 5.30pm
