Pirates To Face Nottingham

Nottingham V Cornish Pirates

Sunday January 11th
Kick Off 3pm

 Nottingham

Although subject to change, the likely Cornish Pirates side to face Nottingham away on Sunday (ko 3pm) has been named. The selection is as follows:-

M. Vakacegu, B. Tuohy, M. Ireland, T. Luke, R. McAtee, R. Jones, N. Griffiths,
M. Evans, S. Betty, C. Morgan, B. Gulliver (capt), S. Raven,
S. Heard, R. Elloway, P. Cook.

Replacements: D. Seal, D. Dawidiuk, P. Andrew, I. Motusaga, E. Fairhurst, S. Whatling, P. Devlin.

In the backs, Brian Tuohy returns on the wing in place of Aisea Havili, and the centre partnership of Tom Luke and Mark Ireland replace Steve Winn and Paul Devlin, who featured against Otley last weekend.

There are also changes in the pack, with, in the absence of an injured Heino Senekal, new signing Sam Raven drafted immediately into the second-row alongside skipper Ben Gulliver.

A player returning from injury and taking a place in the back-row is No. 8 Matt Evans, it enabling Chris Morgan to make one step sideways to the blind-side flank.

'Up front', Sam Heard is selected at tight-head prop, and a fully fit Rob Elloway takes over the hooking duties, having celebrated his return to action last week with a try scored when he came off the bench.

With a large contingent of Cornishmen expected to gather at Nottingham's Meadow Lane ground, it is hoped that weather conditions experienced of late will have improved. Any late postponement would be a a big disappointment to everyone concerned - including Nottingham.

Eager for action, the 'Green & Whites' scheduled match away against Sedgley Park last Saturday had to be called off, which for them was the second time this season that a postponement has occurred.
