Rotherham V Cornish Pirates Sunday January 31st
Kick Off 2pm | | |
The
Pirates travel to Yorkshire this week for an undoubted tough encounter against
a Rotherham side who will not only be keen to put a recent record of poor results
behind them, but will also strive to the 'double' over their Cornish opponents. The
Titans have lost their last five matches, including a 26-12 points cup match defeat
away against Coventry, whilst supporters will remember that Rotherham won 32-28
when the two teams met at Camborne last October. It is hoped that the Pirates
will have one or two more players returning from injury that could feature this
weekend, whilst they will also likely meet up with some old acquaintances. Former
fly-half Tom Barlow is Rotherham's top points scorer, whilst scrum-half Neil Chivers
and centre Nick Buckley also wear the club's maroon and blue colours. Nick,
who left Cornwall at the end of last season, has just signed a new two-year deal
with the Titans, where he is described as "a hard running centre and consistent
metre maker." Also, in back-rower Tinus Du Plessis, they have a Namibian
international who played for the Cornish All Blacks in National One last season.
