Bay & The Pirates Clarification

CEO Cornish Pirates A number of reports
have appeared in the press and elsewhere stating that an agreement is in place
which will allow Cornish Pirates players to be loaned to Mounts Bay RFC. These
statements require clarification; the reality being that whilst some discussions
have taken place between the two clubs the details have not been discussed and
no agreement has been reached. The Cornish Pirates recognise
the potential benefits of such short-term arrangements, (three Cornish Pirates
players were loaned to Redruth RFC last season) and, if it is feasible, will sympathetically
consider any approaches made by Mounts Bay. Similarly, it
has been said that a long-term lease has now been secured for the Mennaye and
that Mounts Bay RFC have helped the Pirates to secure it. This
is not the case and, whilst some months ago Mounts Bay provided a letter of support,
no new lease has been secured. We will continue our efforts
to progress a new clubhouse and to expand facilities for the Amateur club and
its Mini-Junior section, but this remains linked to the issuing of a lease by
Penwith DC.
