11th February 2009 Nottingham V Cornish Pirates - 'Edf'
Tie Rescheduled For Sunday 15th February Following last
week's postponement of the Nottingham versus Cornish Pirates Round 5 tie in the
EDF Energy National Trophy competition, both teams should be fresh and eager for
action when the rescheduled encounter gets underway at Meadow Lane this coming
Sunday 15th February (KO 2pm). Supporters will remember
that the Pirates lost an intriguing league match encounter (23-19) at the same
venue last month, it was the Cornish team's fourth consecutive defeat suffered
at the hands of the 'Green & Whites'. Indeed, the records show it is nearly
two years since the Pirates last beat the Merry Men of Nottingham - that a 20-8
points win recorded at Camborne in March, 2007. With
this trophy tie taking precedence, it means that the Cornish Pirates versus Doncaster
league match, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, has had to be postponed.
The game will be rearranged on a date to be confirmed, as will similarly the Newbury
versus Cornish Pirates fixture which was postponed in September. The
winners of Sunday's Nottingham v Cornish Pirates clash will earn a place in the
quarter-finals away to National Two side Mounts Bay. |
