Pirates help cut the ribbon at the opening of the new Penzance 'Farmers Market'

Always willing to support the community, Cornish Pirates players Marika Vakacegu and Jimmy Moore along with staff member Phil Westren attended the official opening of Penzance 'Farmers Market' last Friday morning.
Marika and Jimmy held the ribbon for the opening ceremony, which was cut by Penzance resident Hazel Oates who instigated the Market project.
Also present at the event were a number of Penwith's leading officials, including MP Andrew George, Town Mayor Roy Mann, Deputy Town Mayor Jan Ruhrmund, Mike Waters Chairman Penzance Chamber of Commerce, local Councillors, Causewayhead Traders Association representatives, and members of the Golowan Band.

Rob Poole, who has already helped both Hayle and St. Ives to set up their Farmers Markets, also attended and was thanked for his support
The purpose of the new Farmers Market is to promote trade for local farmers and producers, the traders in Penzance and to create a good community spirit.
Penzance is a market town and the original cattle market was held in what is now the Causewayhead car park.
