24th December 2008 With the Cornish Pirates fully intending
to take part in the new 'Championship' that will be introduced for next season,
and with particular reference to the likely financial implications of playing
and progressing in that league and also keeping alive the dream of Premiership
rugby, a meeting is to take place at St. John's Hall, Penzance, on Monday 19th
January, at 7.30pm. The meeting is open to Cornish Pirates season ticket
holders, adult members of Penzance & Newlyn RFC, club sponsors and other invitees. Dicky
Evans, who is Chairman of Directors of the Cornish Pirates, is to attend the important
meeting and will be involved in a presentation to be made on the night which will
outline significant and essential initiatives. Those
who gathered at St. John's Hall in May, 2005, made some brave decisions, and since
then the club has without doubt evolved to give immense enjoyment to so many.
If that meeting was one of historic importance, then the one planned for the 19th
January will also hold special significance. In simple terms, everyone has a part
to play, and some in a big way, to keep the light burning and strive for a still
brighter tomorrow.
