'Pirates' On The International Stage

International Pirates
20th June 2008

There will be four Cornish Pirates players on international duty this Saturday 21 June, with three competing in America and one in Japan.

Wing Brian Tuohy keeps his place in the Ireland 'A' starting line-up that will face Argentina 'A' in the Barclays Churchill Cup Plate Final to be played at Toyota Park, Chicago, whilst at the same venue Ed Fairhurst (capt) and new signing Scott Franklin have again been named in the Canada side that will face the USA in the Bowl Final. This match will also count as the annual Can-Am Trophy competition game.

Across the globe in Tokyo, it is Round 3 of the IRB Pacific Nations Cup competition, where Japan play Fiji. Named on the bench for the Fijian side is another new Cornish Pirates signing, Marika Vakacegu, who has featured as a replacement in his country's two previous matches against Manu Samoa (won 34-17) and New Zealand Maori (lost 11-7).
