Photos Sought For New Pirates Book

May 01 2009

In a few months time the Club will publish a new book entitled "Pirates! Pirates!" telling the full story of the club's rise from its lowly position in the Western Counties League in 1995 to become a major force in National One - right up to the present day.

This will be one of the most comprehensive books ever written about a British rugby club and will cover every match throughout its successive promotions and National One history. It will also chart the momentous decision to leave Penzance and to become the Cornish Pirates plus the moves to Truro and Camborne, the triumph at Twickenham and the contribution of its fantastic supporters.

It will include a detailed record of all results, scorers and appearances and will be a 'must' for all Cornish rugby supporters and indeed those of club rugby in general.

It has been researched and written by ex-player, and now Radio Cornwall rugby summariser, Steve Tomlin with additional chapters from journalist and radio commentator Dick Straughan.

IT should be emphasized that Steve and Dick are taking no money whatsoever from the project so that once artwork and printing costs have been recovered every penny will then contribute towards the future of the Cornish Pirates.

The book will include many superb photos that have already been chosen for inclusion, although more images are presently being sought to cover the specific period 1995-2002.

If anyone has any photographs (action/profile/supporters etc) taken during this period, then please contact Phil Westren

Please note that due photo credit will be given for photographs used.

Anyone ordering and paying for a book before it is published, will have their names printed on a 'Subscribers' list within.

Further details will be announced as soon as the selling price of the book is confirmed.
