New Scrum Machine
26th June 2008

Into their second week of pre-season training, the Cornish Pirates have taken delivery this week of a newly built 'Predator 65' special scrum machine.

Delivering the machine to the club's Mennaye Field training base on Tuesday morning was former England lock forward Nigel Horton, who is recognised as the leading authority on the use of scrum machines in training, and who routinely demonstrates the many benefits of the Predator system throughout the rugby playing world.

Pirates players testing out the Predator scrummaging machine this week have been wearing their new training shirts for the coming season,

Commenting on the news at the Mennaye this week, CEO Rod Coward said: 'The acquisition of a top quality scrummage machine and the services of Phil Angove will give our forwards an extra edge in what is sure to be a highly competitive area of the game during the coming season.

I must also mention the contribution that Robin Cowling has made to the Cornish Pirates over the past seasons and to wish him well as he continues his invaluable work at the South West Rugby Academy

Season Ticket Holders are reminded that the official Cornish Pirates 'New Kit Launch' will be held at the Camborne clubhouse on Thursday 3rd July at 7.30pm, when there will also be a Question & Answer session with CEO Rod Coward and coaches Mark Hewitt, Brett Davey and Simon Raynes.
