Shoppers at Truro's Lemon Quay were in for a treat when Rowe's celebrated the opening of their new bakery on Saturday with a host of free samples and fun attractions for all the family including an appearance from Joe Beardshaw and an unusual team of circus performers.

As proud shirt sponsors of the Cornish Pirates for the past three seasons, Rowe's were delighted that Joe Beardshaw, lock for the Cornish Pirates, was on hand from to meet fans and dish out tempting samples of the delicious sweet and savoury snacks that await shoppers inside the new shop.

Visitors to the bakery were also handed free draw tickets with the chance to win a signed Cornish Pirates shirt, as well as tickets to the local derby against Redruth on August 16th and exclusive passes to the Pirates' media day - the perfect opportunity to celebrate the start of what is set to be another successful season in National League One for the club.

The winning ticket numbers will be published in Rowe's new Lemon Quay shop from Wednesday 23 July so if you've got a ticket, head on down there to see if you've won one of the exciting prizes!

Rowe's also gave away free goody bags and the chance to win a food hamper. Children had fun getting their faces painted and enjoyed the escapades of a team of circus acts who performed their unusual routines dressed as robots, alongside a life-size motion censored dummy!

As well as their famous traditional Cornish pasties, Rowe's make a wide selection of savoury snacks and sweet treats, using a wealth of local ingredients to give the products a real taste of Cornwall.

"Our existing shop on Victoria Square is our smallest yet busiest outlet so we've been waiting for the right opportunity to arise in Truro for quite some time and we believe the Lemon Quay area is just that," said Paul Pearce, Marketing Manager for Rowe's.

"It's a lovely family shopping area and we hope that the activities and competitions on Saturday marked the launch of the store in a really family friendly way. It will be business as usual at our existing store on Victoria Square but we will be refreshing and rebranding this, and the rest of our shops over the coming months."

The new Rowe's Bakery at Lemon Quay will open from 8am to 6pm Monday-Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays
