The
Cornish Pirates have confirmed that Chris Stirling has been appointed in the new
role of High Performance Manager. The 46 year old New Zealander had
a seven weeks spell with the club before Christmas, when he advised and assisted
with specific reference to the ELVs, and he will return to Cornwall for the start
of next season for a two year appointment. A former Wellington B player,
Chris has held representative coaching roles with Wellington Colts, Wellington
B and individual skill development with the Wellington Academy, and he is very
proud of the fact that he has coached in many varying conditions and locations,
and has enjoyed successful results in all. Furthermore, he is sure that
a main contributing factor has been his approach and philosophy, stating: "People
don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." Commenting
on this exciting new appointment, Cornish Pirates CEO Rod Coward said:
"Chris
Stirling showed during his brief spell with us that he has the right credentials
to deliver what will be required next season and beyond. I am delighted
that he has agreed to be a part of our future plans and I believe that his contribution
will have a marked impact on the team's performances."
