Sidney Thomas,
former Mayor of Marazion & Penwith District and Marazion Town Councillor,
was appointed Chairman of Penzance & Newlyn RFC at the AGM held at the 'Westholme'
clubhouse on Thursday 31st July.
He
was filling a void which followed former Chairman Robin Turner resigning from
office earlier in the year, after it had been announced that the then club's President,
Dicky Evans, had stood down from the office.
Speaking on
his appointment, Mr. Thomas said: "I was humbled to to be asked to perform
such a role, but it is one that will be given my full commitment and honesty."
Besides
his obvious keen interest in rugby, he has been a Commodore of Marazion Sailing
Club, and has played and refereed football locally.
