The
Cornish Pirates and London Welsh have, by mutual consent and with approval of
FDR, agreed to reverse their fixtures for the forthcoming season.
This
means that London Welsh will now play their home fixture against the Cornish Pirates
on Saturday 6th December, with the game at Camborne taking place on Saturday 25th
April, 2009, which is the last official fixture day in the National One season.
It
is envisaged that Cornish Pirates rugby supporters will welcome the changes for
two good reasons.
First
without such a change it would
have meant that the Pirates last home game would have been on the earlier date
of Easter Sunday 12th April, versus Plymouth Albion
Second
whilst a second
beneficial reason is that the end of the season can be suitably celebrated at
home on Trevithick Day, with awards likely to be made after the match in a format
which has proved popular these past couple of years.
