Worldwide
Winners June 2008 Members of the public attending the Royal
Cornwall Show at Wadebridge earlier this month had the opportunity not only to
mix with Cornish Pirates players, but also to 'box' against them! Organised
in conjunction with club sponsors Worldwide Financial Planning Limited, the contests
actually took place on a Games Console sited in Worldwide's showground stand. Ultimately,
it was all good fun, and much enjoyed by the players and contestants alike . The
overall winner was Matthew Smitherham, aged 11, who 'ko'd' Joe Beardshaw in 10
seconds. Second was 14 years old Adam Durnin, who managed to 'ko' Ron Elloway
in 16 seconds, whilst Josh Sharpe, also aged 14, 'ko'd' Ollie Thomas in 24 seconds. All
the winners will be sent tickets for the Cornish Pirates versus Redruth pre-season
'friendly' match to be played at Camborne on Saturday 16th August (ko 5pm), when
at half-time they will have their photographs taken with Worldwide's Managing
Director, Peter McGahan, and Cornish Pirates' popular mascot 'Captain Benbow'.
During the course of the Show, Worldwide Financial Planning Limited
and the Cornish Pirates also ran a 'Spot the Ball' competition which was won by
11 years old Georgina Jeffery. |
