Tyrone
Holmes, a South African-born tearaway flanker, has been confirmed as the Cornish
Pirates last signing to complete the club's 32-man squad.
On
leaving the RPC, Tyrone spent five months with Northampton Saints, where he enjoyed
learning from some of the game's 'greats', such as Carlos Spencer, Bruce Reihana
and Ben Cohen. However, when the Saints were relegated for a season into National
One they changed their structure and consequently most of their Academy players
were cut.
South
African lock forward Roderick Labuschagne is the latest Pirates signing. At 29
years of age, he joins from successful Italian 'Super 10' side Benetton Treviso
Described
as being an aggressive performer on the field, he is a big hitter who works hard
in the loose and is very effective at rucks
At 6' 6" tall and weighing
in at 18 stones 2lbs, he is the third new lock forward to have put pen to paper.
Earlier
this month Rob Elloway played for Germany in the European Nations Cup Division
One competition, known as Six Nations 'B', which is the premier competition for
second tier nations in Europe.
Rob, who played international
rugby for England 18 Group at youth level, made his debut for Germany when coming
off the bench to play in the unaccustomed position of flanker.
WE
advised last week that more signings would be announced to add to the ten names
already released, and true to word the names of another two players have now been
confirmed.
Joining from Sale Sharks is former Bath and Northampton Saints
23 year old hooker Dave Ward.
From Nuneaton comes 25 year old full-back/fly-half
Rob Cook
