| Pirates Welcome Cowan On Board |
Blair
Cowan Following the signing of Sam Raven, the Cornish Pirates are now pleased to confirm the signing of 22 years old New Zealander Blair Cowan, who has arrived in Cornwall during the week Described as someone with a bright future ahead of him, Blair is an energetic back-rower who played two years for Wellington Colts before more recently captaining the Wellington 'B' side.
After spending time with the Pirates and understanding both the Pirates style and the league I can confidently say that Blair will be an important addition to the squad. He will bring high levels of skill and game understanding, coupled with a huge work rate and a very tough approach to every aspect of play - Blair will be a great asset to the club." Other changes during the past week at the Pirates have seen the departure of Bruce Cumming and Doug Sanft.
Bruce was a popular Pirate whose larger than life character and aggressive, wholehearted displays were much appreciated. Having dislocated a shoulder when playing against Nottingham at Camborne in September, Bruce has undergone surgery which has kept him out of the game since. The 28 years old South African arrived on our shores in July, 2007, and made his debut for the Cornish Pirates in a pre-season 'friendly' against Leicester Tigers. He previously played for Border Bulldogs and Griquas in South Africa, and Pro D2 side Massy in France. Samoan international Doug, who has not had many opportunities to show his skills, has recently been on loan to Mounts Bay. Both players leave Cornish Pirates with every good wish for their future.
