Cornish
Pirates' players Ed Fairhurst and Mike Burak can expect to add to their tally
of international caps following the announcement that both have been selected
in the Canada squad which will be touring Europe in November. The
pair will miss Canada's opening game against Portugal, but will be available for
games that follow against Ireland, Wales and Scotland. Scrum-half
Ed, who is 29 years of age, has so far represented his country on 44 occasions,
and captained Canada in this summer's Churchill Cup competition. As
for Mike, he is a 27-year-old lock who has won 24 caps for his country |
The
'Canucks' Coach is Kieran Crowley, a former 'All Blacks' full-back, who visited
Cornwall recently to watch the Cornish Pirates versus Nottingham game Both
Ed and Mike will be looking forward to the tour, one which will not lack either
atmosphere or passion. The game against Ireland, which
will be played at the new Thomond Park, Limerick, on Saturday, 8th November, is
certain to be special, as will the game at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, against
'Six Nations Champions' Wales on the following Friday. The
last game of Canada's European tour will be played against Scotland at Murrayfield
on Saturday, 22nd November, which, fitness permitting, should mean that both Ed
and Mike will be available again for the Battle of the Brickfields at Plymouth
Albion on the last Saturday of the month. |
