Pirates Put Through Their Paces

Pirates At Lympstone Royal Marines Base
July 24th 2008

Royal Marines

This week the Pirates travelled to the Commando Training Centre (Royal Marines) Lympstone, near Exmouth, to experience the training challenges on offer at the important military base.

Taking full advantage of the facilities available at a purpose built training establishment, the Pirates have used a fully fitted gymnasium, the swimming pool, undertaken a gruelling endurance course, climbed the commando wall, and participated in a 'gun run'.

Facilities at Lympstone are wide ranging. They include a Tarzan/Assault Course, a first class gymnasium complex and fitness suite, rugby pitches and tennis courts, a swimming pool for combat swimming tests, an indoor range simulator incorporating the latest laser technology, a nearby 300 metre rifle range to assist Recruits in their shooting skills and on site training areas within the 95 acre base

All Royal Marines return to Lympstone many times as they progress through their career.
