October
26th 2008 The Cornish Pirates have agreed to Ollie Thomas returning
on loan to his former club Moseley for the remainder of his contract this season. Ollie,
who is Moseley's record points scorer, and who moved to Cornwall to benefit from
full-time rugby at the Pirates at the start of the 2007-08 season, has undoubtedly
benefited from being in such an environment. However, injury, form and competition
in his preferred positions have restricted his appearances. The Cornish
Pirates, Moseley and Ollie himself recognise that he needs more game time to fulfil
his potential, and the move back to the Midlands could provide just that opportunity.
Now, 25 years of age, Ollie had played for every age group at Moseley from Minis
to Colts to 1st XV, before relocating to the Pirates, which is the only other
club that he has played for in his career. The moves comes at a perfect
time for 'Mose', who have been actively seeking cover for a number of positions,
and as a proven performer in their red and black colours, Ollie fits the bill. Commenting
on the loan agreement, Rod Coward, CEO at the Cornish Pirates, said: "Such
a loan agreement at this time makes sense. We wish Ollie well, and feel that he
will certainly derive benefit from hopefully playing regular rugby once more. |
