Penwith Sports Games
2nd April 2009
Penwith Sports Partnership recently ran their postponed winter games using facilities at the Astro Park and Penzance Leisure Centre.
The sports played included basketball, ultimate frisbee and dance, plus also rugby which was run by RFU Community Sports Coach Phil Morris and Cornish Pirates Community Development Officer Mike Crump.
The rugby games were for Year 10 girls from the Penwith area, who played 'tag' rugby to an impressive standard, and in good conditions.
It was a closely fought competition, won on try difference by Bolitho School.
The Winning Bolitho School Team
The experience of playing rugby was much enjoyed by the participants, with a number interested to know that the Cornish Pirates now have a girls team.
Girl's Team Training is at Mounts Bay School every Wednesday from 4.15 - 5.30pm.
Training is open to any girls interested in learning the game of rugby and attending coaching sessions
